: Village development planning and bottom-up planning and budgeting Two directors of DRI have been providing key lead role on a LIFT funded technical assistance to the Myanmar Department of Rural Development to develop national and township level capacity for village and township development planning and budgeting. The senior experts have developed conceptual framework for the VDP process, trained a team of 24 national experts, and in turn provided training to township government officers and village communities in conducting the VDP process. Follow on work has entailed consolidation of VDPs and annual village investment programmes with their respective township level and subsequently formulation of Township Rural Development Strategy and Programme. Thus far, the VDP process has been undertaken in 8000 villages at 49 rural Townships as of Dec 2017). Portion of project budget allocated to the two Directors of DRI for their technical assistance service (56 months fee for each of 2 directors of DRI):  USD 952,000
